ATLANTA – State Representative Leesa Hagan (R-Lyons) was selected to participate in the 2022 Emerging Legislative Leaders Program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, which will take place on the university’s campus later this year. Rep. Hagan was selected as one of 50 state legislators from 45 states to learn from experts about effective legislating and leadership.
“When I was elected to serve as the representative of House District 156, I promised to form relationships with all of my legislative colleagues, no matter their party, in order to pass good legislation for the people of Georgia, especially the citizens of House District 156,” said Rep. Hagan. “It is possible to stick to our moral and political principles while looking for ways to work together when we can, and I believe that we can get back to a more civil discourse in this country if we just take the time to see others as humans and not just political talking points. I am excited to hear from others around the country about how to effectively collaborate on policy so I can continue to push conservative legislation on behalf of my constituents.”
The Emerging Legislative Leaders Program is a collaborative effort of the State Legislative Leaders Foundation and the University of Virginia’s business school. This program is specifically designed for professors to train state legislators over the course of four days. Since 2005, more than 600 legislators have completed the program, and many participants have achieved positions of leadership in their states.
