Representative
Leesa Hagan
Proudly Serving Georgia’s 156th District
Leesa was born and raised in the great state of Georgia.
In 2009, she and her husband Mike settled in Toombs County after deciding they wanted to raise their two young boys in a small town.
As the home of Mike’s maternal family for six generations, New Branch, just south of Lyons was an easy choice. The hardworking, dedicated people of this community make it a great place to raise a family and call home!
Leesa and Mike met at the University of Georgia and have been married since 1996.
They have two college-aged sons who are Eagle scouts. All the Hagans are active members at Grace Community Presbyterian Church in Lyons and are involved in the community.
After graduating from UGA with a degree in education, Leesa began a teaching career that has included 13 years of classroom experience in public, private, and home school.
Because she has a passion for small businesses and understands the vital role they play in the local economy, Leesa started a consulting firm that specializes in helping local business owners reach more of their customers online.
Leesa served as the Chairman of the Toombs County Republican Party from 2019 – 2021. She first ran for that office because she wanted to grow the local party to ensure that the hard-working, innovative people in Toombs County are heard in Atlanta and beyond. Furthermore, she doesn’t believe in complaining about something unless she is willing to work to improve it.
Through her active involvement in the Republican Party, Leesa developed great working relationships with many of Georgia’s leaders. She believes strongly that concerned members of the community should feel comfortable reaching out to their elected officials at every level.
Leesa was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in the 2021 special election.
She serves the 156th district which includes all of Toombs, Montgomery, and Wheeler counties and portions of Tattnall, Telfair, and Ben Hill counties.
She currently serves on the following House committees:
- Transportation, Vice Chairman
- Appropriations Education subcommittee, Vice Chairman
- Agriculture and Consumer Affairs
- Natural Resources and Environment
- Industry and Labor
- Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight
- Small Business Development
Leesa also serves as a House Majority Deputy Whip, Secretary of the House Rural Caucus, a member of the GA WORKS Licensing Commission, and was appointed by Speaker Burns to the House Rural Development Council.
